A security-focused technology environment is adding a Network Security Engineer to help own and protect core connectivity and perimeter services. This role sits close to day-to-day operations, combining hands-on troubleshooting with longer-term improvements to how network security controls are designed, maintained, and monitored.
It’s a role for someone who understands how networks behave under load, during incidents, and when things don’t fail cleanly.
You’ll support and secure enterprise network infrastructure, with a strong focus on firewalls, network segmentation, secure connectivity, and traffic visibility. Expect a mix of operational support, change work, investigation, and collaboration with SOC and infrastructure teams when security events cross network boundaries.
Operate and maintain network security controls (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, gateways)
Investigate network-related security incidents and performance anomalies
Analyse traffic flows, logs, and packet captures to diagnose issues
Support firewall rule reviews, tuning, and lifecycle management
Work with SOC and IR teams during incidents affecting network layers
Assist with secure network design for new systems and services
Contribute to documentation, standards, and runbooks
Support change activity and continuous improvement initiatives
4–7 years in network security or network-focused security engineering roles
Strong experience with enterprise firewalls and secure network architectures
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, and network troubleshooting
Experience working with SIEM or network monitoring tools
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS or Azure)
Comfortable working in structured or regulated environments
Clear communication and a methodical troubleshooting approach
